National Poetry Month (Part 3)

Week 3 of National Poetry Month was a train that pulled up to the station at the last minute a few times.

Still on pace though and enjoying the process.

It took until today's poem to land my favorite of the week so that one might see more life sooner than later.

I also revisited a poem I wrote an entire year ago and transformed it into something else entirely, so that was cool.

Again, if you'd like to follow these as I'm posting them daily, they're on my Instagram page. The daily is on the story and my progress has its own highlight. Apologies again for the awful handwriting combined with the iPhone picture of a page. If at any point you have questions about what something may say, feel free to ask!

Here are the poem titles in order along with the prompts they came from:

4/10: Evening Break.

Write an ekphrastic poem! (Poem written about a work of art). This one is about Vincent Van Gogh's "Cafe Terrace at Night".

4/11: Echoes. ----- Erased.

Use a previous poem of yours to make an erasure poem. (a poem wherein a poet takes an existing text and erases, blacks out, or otherwise obscures a large portion of the text, creating a wholly new work from what remains)

4/12: Green Thumb.

Free write. I love love.

4/13: Waves In A Paint Can.

Is it really art if I have to keep breaking myself a million times to create it? (Not sure if I answered it directly)

4/14: Suspense.

Write a haiku about rollercoasters.

4/15: No.

Write a poem inspired by a micromanager.

4/16: The Heart Isn't Heart Shaped.

Free write again. I love love.
