Hey, friends. October is knocking on our doors. *Siri play "Summers Over Interlude" by Drake ft Majid Jordan*
The air becomes as crisp as the falling leaves and the holidays start to float in like toddlers in ghost costumes. Speaking of costumes, my soon-to-be 3-year-old son isn't a big fan of Halloween so we may be ignoring that one this year.
Either way, it's basically October. And with the change of seasons, I'm proud to say I'll be posting poetry on my own website.
It'll start monthly, at first. But I won't say that will be the only poetry I post on here. This is just a poem I want to showcase to you and speak a little more about.
Poetry is from the soul and I put as much of my honest self as possible into each piece.
I hope you enjoy!
October's Poem
Shirtless.
Monday came too fast.
Eyes sensitive to the light,
fingers massaging its temples,
trying to recall the weekend’s events,
nursing Sunday’s hangover.
Tuesday binged its favorite show again.
Wednesday winced with disgust
from yesterday’s laziness,
and primped a Windsor knot to perfection.
Thursday couldn’t wait to dress down
and shower,
then dress up once more.
Friday called
to make plans.
Saturday forgot
about the heart on its sleeve.
Just for Sunday
to slip into its sexiest ensemble,
drink the pain away,
and drunk dial
absolutely anyone who would listen.
Holding onto its heart
for what seems like days.
Forgetting the rest of the week exists
because it feels like tomorrow
will never come.
