A new year, a new poem.
Why not start the year with a bit of love?
Sometimes love just finds you when you aren't looking.
Or maybe slight feelings.
Or maybe a small crush.
Happy New Year's!
Enjoy!
January's Poem
Lengua Por Noche.
Speak to me like you did last night.
All those pet-names grew wings without harnesses
and launched from your lips
with ease.
Perching their talons on my ear canals,
growing gills to dive deep into my equilibrium,
and swoon me off-balance
to your clutches.
Hands swift as a grifter’s in a dark alley.
Soft like the glint of lust shimmering overcast.
Don’t tell me you forgot already.
Your silver tongue must be a werewolf,
docile under the sun,
yet showing its teeth at the right moments
under the moonlight,
sinking in with perfect pressure.
Losing its memory by dawn.
But I left bite marks on the nape of your heart
and an itch behind its ears.
Wait until the flashbacks kick in,
because they will.
Love has a funny way of showing up
when you least expect it and
reminding you where your lust buried itself.
