In March, I had the privilege of doing my second PechaKucha PVD presentation and it felt even better than the first.
A PechaKucha is a presentation style of Japanese origin. "The PechaKucha 20x20 presentation format is a slide show of 20 images, each auto-advancing after 20 seconds. It’s non-stop and you've got 400 seconds to tell your story, with visuals guiding the way. PechaKucha was created in Japan in 2003 by renowned architects, Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham. The word “PechaKucha” is Japanese for “chit chat.”
With that format, it's unique and kept me on my toes the entire time. I had fun creating it, delivering it, and watching everyone else's during the night. I will definitely be looking to do another and trying to match friends to upcoming themes!
The theme of the night I presented was Hope. Which, like the first time, I made a way to involve poetry. This time around, I spoke on what I think before & during a performance, some of why I write, and more. I also used the majority of my time to perform two poems written exclusively for this event: "I Hope These Poems Make Sense." after "Blueslides" by ScHoolboy Q and "The Email." after "I Hope These Poems Make Sense." (so a sequel poem).
Also, check out all the other presentations, follow PechaKucha PVD, the 3-peat-champ for RI Monthly's Best Event in PVD, on Instagram, and keep up to see if a theme touches your soul! ANYONE CAN DO ONE!
Either way, enjoy!!
