Metaphors, Syllables, and Similes... Oh My! Poetry & PechaKucha.

In June, I had the privilege of doing a PechaKucha PVD presentation and, wow, I really enjoyed it!

A PechaKucha is a presentation style of Japanese origin. "The PechaKucha 20x20 presentation format is a slide show of 20 images, each auto-advancing after 20 seconds. It’s non-stop and you've got 400 seconds to tell your story, with visuals guiding the way. PechaKucha was created in Japan in 2003 by renowned architects, Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham. The word “PechaKucha” is Japanese for “chit chat.”

With that format, it's unique and kept me on my toes the entire time. I had fun creating it, delivering it, and watching everyone else's during the night. I will definitely be looking to do another and trying to match friends to upcoming themes!

The theme of the night I presented was DIY. Which I of course flipped to involve poetry.

I laid out my journey into writing, a quick look into my process, some tips, and even performed a piece for the first time, as well as encouraged the audience to go home and write their own!

I'm delighted to say one person has gotten to me about that and another is still gathering thoughts but others were inspired as well. So I call that a success!

Hopefully after seeing this, you'll feel the same. Please let me know if any questions, comments, heart-brain thoughts, etc.

Also, check out all the other presentations, follow PechaKucha PVD, the 3-peat-champ for RI Monthly's Best Event in PVD, on Instagram, and keep up to see if a theme touches your soul! ANYONE CAN DO ONE!

Either way, enjoy!!
