Words That Take Your Breath.

Last night I felt like a toy getting its batteries replaced.
Like an unsettled spirit crossing over.
Like a tense muscle getting past a cramp.
Like peace was a human being and we were buying each other drinks for hours.
What made me feel like this? It was our recent TDN Poetry Show and all the talented poets who shared their soul.
From start to finish I was taking class and learning from poets of varied experience. After performing last weekend, it was nice to just sit there and watch greatness. I was hypnotized by the way their words wove into gorgeous verbal quilts. Yes, quilts. Because I felt a loving embrace with each piece recited into that microphone.
And I left with my jaw dropped. Inspired to be an even better poet and performer. To be a more complete writer and dig deeper, as I've been trying to do so all year.
